I’m Sabine Fürst.

I’m curious about how work really gets done.

As a Human Factors & System Safety specialist, I help organisations learn from everyday work – from what goes well as much as from what goes wrong. Without judgement or blame, and with plenty of curiosity.

My approach

The plan says one thing. Everyday work often does another – and almost always for good reason.

The gap between work-as-imagined and work-as-done holds what staff achieve and what organisations can learn. With the Safety-II approach, we navigate the complexity of your reality together.

How it’s imagined How it’s done

My path

Two safety-critical worlds taught me: safety emerges in everyday work and in what happens between people, technology and organisation.

  1. Flight attendant

In the cabin, I experienced that safety is the achievement of a whole system, every day.

  2. Midwife

In the complexity of healthcare, I learned what holds teams together under pressure and what pulls them apart.

  3. MSc, Human Factors and System Safety

At Lund University, I found the theory and language for what I had experienced in practice.

  4. Safety Fürst

Today I bring both together: in consulting, training, teaching and research, where safety and organisational development intertwine.
